Nigerian mobility startup Treepz has collaborated with insurtech Octamile to introduce Treepz Care, an innovative insurance program that transforms the travel and mobility experience by providing extensive coverage and peace of mind to Treepz’s community of guests and hosts.
Established in 2019 under the name Plentywaka until its rebranding in September 2021, Treepz operates a digital platform enabling passengers to book daily rides on fixed routes. Additionally, it acts as an aggregator for bus travel companies in numerous Nigerian cities, facilitating the transition from manual ticketing and servicing to digital solutions.
In February, Disrupt Africa reported that Treepz expanded its operations to Kenya after securing strategic investment deals, raising an additional $1.2 million in funding over the previous year.
Octamile, on the other hand, specializes in making insurance solutions accessible and convenient and enjoys the trust of B2C companies such as Gokada, Terminal Africa, Traccsystems, Messenger, DriveMe, Traction, Spreentar, and Kredibank. These companies rely on Octamile’s API or widget to unlock new possibilities for businesses and customers.
Now, these two companies have joined forces to launch Treepz Care, a comprehensive insurance service designed for both guests and hosts. This includes coverage for guests, protection for hosts, insurance for driver accidents, and various benefits.
Onyeka Akumah, CEO of Treepz, expressed the significance of the partnership, highlighting the growing interest in the travel and mobility sectors as people seek flexible transportation options to explore both nearby and distant places. Treepz’s ultimate goal is to create Africa’s largest car-sharing marketplace for car rentals, with a strong focus on safety, including comprehensive insurance coverage for both guests and hosts.
